Government sets out commitments to biodiversity and sustainability in G7 Nature Compact

By: agxio | 13 Jun 2021

G7 leaders have agreed a shared G7 Nature Compact to commit to preventing and reversing key concerns such as biodiversity loss and climate change by 2030. This agreement brings the G7 countries together to address unsustainable activities such as deforestation alongside tackling illegal wildlife trade. The commitment will support the drive to protect and restore ecosystems with increased investment in nature to enable this. The UK Prime Minister has launched the UK’s Blue Planet Fund, a £500 million fund to help support countries to address unsustainable fishing and protect coastal ecosystems while reducing marine pollution. The G7 Nature Compact’s commitments will be embedded in national plans with the aim to ensure delivery of the objectives for 2030.
