Inorganic fertiliser production currently uses intensive energy processes. Agri-tech companies Atmonia and N2 are developing alternative fertiliser production approaches including generating fertiliser in a shipping container using renewable energy sources. This could soon lead to on-farm fertiliser production in future with the potential for a carbon neutral alternative to current methods.
