Nematodirus is a disease caused by the Nematodirus battus worm and can lead to stunted growth and high numbers of lamb mortalities. The worm has a different cycle to other sheep parasites and can strike very quickly under certain climatic conditions. The forecast predicts the hatch date of Nematodirus based on information from 140 weather stations across the UK and can be used in combination with previous grazing history to assess the risk of infection in lambs.
