Trial saves Pig industry an estimated £15.3m

The livestock sector is under constant pressure to reduce the quantity of emissions emitted by the industry. Within the pork sector, ammonia is one of the named emissions that we are looking to reduce through correct guidance and monitoring. The Environment Agency celebrates the good news that there has now been a very successful trial for monitoring pig ammonia outputs, which has been estimated to save the industry £15.3 million by meeting the Best Available Technique (BAT) Associated Emission Levels (AELs).
